AI & Education
AI is entering education on all levels of formal and informal education.
It provides many opportunities on one side and a lot of challenges on the other. The lecture will provide a brief overview but concentrate to the potentials that AI could bring in order to make education enjoyable, attractive, dynamic and personalised. Several concrete implementations, tools and applications will be demonstrated and discussed with the goal to achieve global, open, personalised education that will serve individual needs interests, goals understanding her/his abilities, goals and preferences.
Mitja is the UNESCO Chairholder for Open Technologies for Open Educational Resources and Open Learning and the head of the Centre for Knowledge Transfer at the Jozef Stefan Institute, the national research institute in Slovenia.
He is also a member of the management team of IRCAI -- International Research Center on Artificial Intelligence under auspices of UNESCO, being responsible for projects that are addressing global challenges related to SDGs with AI; this includes AI in Smart Cities, Circular Economy, Environment, Intelligent Transport, Smart Energy Grids, Factories of the Future, Cyber Security, Technology Enhanced Learning, Knowledge Management, and Business Intelligence. Mitja has a long track record in setting up and managing large projects like videolectures.NET, Science Atlas, Analytics framework for fighting against corruption, and more. He has been involved in more than 20 international research and development projects. Mitja is a member of the management teams of Knowledge4All Foundation and MyMachine Global. He is also involved in the European Complex System Society, Open Education Consortium, Opencast, and European current research information systems (CRIS) community.
